Ganja, takla is not just a word but an act of defamation and many of you might be teased by your friends or colleagues by this name. But you are not the one facing this alone. Millions of people each year complain about hair loss and deal with stress and lower self-esteem. This problem causes a decline in self confidence in a person and appears quickly and visibly to other people as well.
Many medicines have been brought in the market that claim to prevent hair loss and bring new hair growth but the most effective and quick one with no danger of side effects is ayurveda for sure. The roots of ayurvedic treatments are millions of years of research and hardwork. The human body contains three doshas – vata (air), pitta (fire) and kapha (earth) and this philosophy is followed in our lives. The hair loss which happens to many individuals is connected with pitta dosha which is related to the digestion and metabolism of a person.

Hair According To Ayurveda

According to Ayurveda, the hair is derived either as a by-product or produced as a breakdown product of Asthi (bone tissue). Any disturbance in this tissue metabolism, which very much depends on the digestive fire, can affect the health of the hair. To a certain extent, the quality of hair depends on the body constitution. The reason for hair loss is a subject that no two doctors seem to agree on and everyone seems to have their own opinion on the subject
The major causes of hairfall are

* Hormonal

* Nutritional deficiencies

* Complications to other diseases and medications

Hormone related hair fall may also result from an increased sensitivity of hair follicles to male hormones or due to greater number of male hormone receptors attached to hair follicles. This is the component that is inherited through the genes — termed as Pitta constitution.
According to Ayurveda, excess Pitta dosha in the body is increased by

* hot climatic conditions,

* excessive intake of spicy, salty and sour food, hot and sharp food,

* tea, coffee, alcohol, meats and excessive smoking.

* Eating too much fried, oily, greasy, and acidic foods also aggravates Pitta

The causes of Hair loss as per Ayurveda

Exposure to an unhealthy environment

Excessive exposure to impure water and sunlight, dust also affects hair growth.

Excessive Sweating

Hair loss might also happen due to an increased amount of sweat glands in the body which causes excessive sweat.

Sleeping pattern

People have unhealthy sleeping habits and this leads to hinder the growth of hair since less amount of sleep causes stress to the body and mind.

Depression

A stressed mind leads to a stressed body and thus depression or anxiety might definitely affect the hair growth and cause hair loss.

Living Habits

An unhygienic way of living also affects the hair growth, a person not taking bath or hair wash may face hair loss.

Diseases

Many times disease could also be a reason for hairfall and the antibiotics taken to heal might also cause heat in the body and lead to hair loss.

Alcohol consumption

Alcohol causes heat in the body and is again a reason for hair loss.

Common Hair Problems

Increased hair fall in Ayurved is termed as khalitya and is classified under shiroroga. And greying of hair is termed as Palitya, Dandruff is called Darunak. Folliculitis is called Arunshika, where Patchy hair loss is called Indra Lupta.

* Hair Loss (Alopecia Areata)

* Dandruff

* Folliculitis

* Scalp Psoriasis

* Grey Hair

* Hair Damage

* Frizzy Hair/ Dry Hair

* Hair Thinning

* Patchy hair loss

Ayurvedic Remedies for hair loss

Here are some treatments described in Ayurveda which reduces hair fall and cure the hair loss problem:
