  • What is the Ayurvedic Treatment for Low AMH?

There are three aspects of ayurvedic treatments viz shamana, shodhana and rasayana.

Shamana treatment means using internal medications to balance the ‘dosha’, to improve metabolism (deepana and pachana) and hormonal balance.

Shodhana treatment is a process of taking the metabolic toxins out of the body and thereby correcting the metabolism and physiological balance through panchakarma procedures including nasyam, vamanam, virechanam, vasti and raktamokshana.

Rasayana treatment includes medicines, lifestyle changes, and diet which will rejuvenate the body in a way to improve physical strength, hormonal balance, and reproductive health.

  • Low AMH is not exactly the cause of infertility but an indicator of the state of depleted ovarian reserve. AMH levels help to show how many potential egg cells a woman has left. If a woman's ovarian reserve is high, she may have a better chance of getting pregnant. But if it is low, she may also have to wait months or years before trying to get pregnant.

  • A normal AMH level for a fertile woman is 1.0–4.0 ng/ml. Levels under 1.0 ng/ml are considered low. Low AMH levels indicate a diminished ovarian reserve (egg supply).

  • ‘AMH’ means ‘anti mullerian hormone’. AMH is a glycoprotein chemical that has important functions in our embryonic life as well as adult reproductive health. It is a hormone that is a substance produced by granulosa cells in ovarian follicles.

Having a low AMH level means that a woman has a low ovarian reserve (egg supply). A woman might have difficulty but it doesn't mean that you cannot conceive naturally.

  • AMH levels tend to decline as you get older and there are many reasons for it. Such as :

    Age
    Genetic factors
    Endometriosis
    Auto-immune diseases
    Cancer treatment
    Excessive smoking
    Pollution
    Obesity
    Stress
